About the role
RemoteLegalStaff is a fast-growing legal staffing company supporting ~400 globally distributed staff and over 250 clients with an internal team of 70+.
As our first IT Manager, you'll take full ownership of our IT function: from fixing our Google Workspace environment to building the policies, systems, and support structures a company of our size needs to run securely and efficiently, because our current size is just the beginning and we're ready to scale.
This is a hands-on role. You won't be managing a team on day one: you'll be doing the work. The right person has built IT infrastructure from scratch before, thrives in ambiguity, and understands that in a remote legal environment, reliability and trust are non-negotiable.
What you'll own
Take over all IT responsibilities from our owners and become the single owner of the IT function
Audit all existing tools, accounts, licenses, and configurations; document what exists and what's missing
Build an IT roadmap and 90-day priority plan
Create and maintain IT policies, acceptable-use guidelines, and a self-service knowledge base
Fully own our Google Workspace environment
Enforce MFA, security defaults, and data sharing controls
Manage user accounts, license assignments, access provisioning, and deprovisioning across all platforms
Maintain an accurate inventory of users, roles, access levels, and licenses
Audit all SaaS subscriptions and rationalize unnecessary or duplicate tools
Manage vendor relationships, renewals, and negotiations
Track license utilization so we only pay for what we use
Select, implement, and manage an IT ticketing / service desk platform
Build self-service resources to reduce repetitive support requests over time
Implement and enforce security fundamentals: MFA, password management, role-based access controls
Conduct periodic access reviews and proactively identify security gaps
As the organization grows, recruit, onboard, and manage one or more IT Support Specialists
Build a small, scalable IT support function for a growing global team
Support our marketing team with the technical side of domain and subdomain setups, and web development

What we're looking for
Essential
4–6 years of IT experience, including at least 2 years in a hands-on senior sysadmin or IT management role
Google Workspace Admin experience managing for 100+ users: non-negotiable
Experience with an IT service desk platform (Freshdesk, Zendesk, Jira Service Management, or similar)
Experience managing a SaaS tool portfolio across multiple platforms
Working knowledge of SSO, SAML, MFA enforcement, and role-based access control
Excellent written and verbal English, you'll support both internal staff and external clients directly
Able to work independently and proactively in a fully remote, async-first environment
Strong customer service instincts; your audience is entirely non-technical
Preferred:
Experience as a company's first IT hire, or building IT from scratch
Slack administration and integrations
Background in legal, professional services, or staffing environments
Experience supporting globally distributed teams across multiple time zones
Basic automation skills (Zapier, Make, or similar)
What success looks like
Beyond the technical skills, success would mean someone who can demonstrate having a service and client-centered approach to IT Management, who can audit and identify main gaps and separate the critical ones from the nice-to-haves.
By day 90, you should've already identified all or our digital ecosystem, run a full diagnosis, and proposed immediate and mid-term solutions. You'll have identified the structure you'll need on the team (both in people and in systems) to provide support everywhere it's needed.

How our hiring process works:
We are a fully remote company, and our hiring process reflects that. The first stages are completely asynchronous: no surprise calls, no scheduling pressure. You will complete a short written application and, if selected, move through an async assessment at your own pace. Candidates who advance through the initial stages will then be invited to schedule a live interview.
We communicate clearly at every step and respect your time throughout!
