Job description: A Bellevue Community Schools Academic Tutor provides academic support and guidance to students across math and reading. An Academic Tutor will work closely with students of different ages and skill levels, assisting them in developing their academic abilities, improving their study skills, and achieving their educational goals. Tutoring will occur twice week and may be in person or virtual.
Required Professional Preparation and Experience:
- Proven experience as a tutor, teacher, or instructor, preferably in an academic setting.
- Strong knowledge and expertise in the subjects being tutored.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to create structured learning plans.
- Familiarity with educational resources, teaching aids, and instructional technologies.
- High level of professionalism, reliability, and commitment to student success.
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students in various subjects, including but not limited to mathematics and English.
- Explain and clarify complex concepts, theories, and problem-solving techniques to enhance students' understanding and mastery of the subject matter.
- Assist students in completing assignments, projects, and homework by providing guidance, feedback, and constructive criticism.
- Teach effective study skills, time management techniques, and organizational strategies to help students become independent and efficient learners.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and self-confidence.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
