Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Pinnacle Talent Placement is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Americas Tax Technology Group. This hands-on role involves leading teams of full-stack engineers, driving technical direction, and managing modernization efforts while maintaining legacy systems.
Responsibilities
- Contribute code every week using agents; the hands-on work is the core of the role, not an optional extra
- Own and version the domain’s agent operating instructions and keep them improving
- Do pull request review and provide fast, technical feedback
- Fix, ship, and manage the tech-debt backlog directly rather than only delegating it
- Route each smaller, well-bounded task to the best executor, whether an agent, an engineer, or yourself
- Use agentic SDLC to increase throughput on bounded components with clean interfaces
- Keep coordination lean and outcome-focused; identify dependencies and risks early
- Act as the primary owner of the team’s technical direction, architecture decisions, and long-term technical health
- Define and drive the technical roadmap, balancing new delivery, modernization, and tech-debt reduction
- Own both the legacy .NET / C# and Angular components and new development on the Python / Node / React stack, driving phased modernization while keeping business-critical components stable
- Hire engineers for the team and own the bar for technical hiring
- Evaluate and rate engineers, give regular feedback, and support their growth
- Coach the team to work effectively with agents
- Uphold engineering principles consistently across design, coding, testing, release, and operations
- Lead practical adoption of agentic SDLC with clear human-in-the-loop quality, testing, and security guardrails
- Drive excellence across the full development loop and continuous improvement
- Apply a documented verification protocol per artifact type (code, tests, docs, infrastructure)
- Run evals before merge and keep human-owned merge control on production branches
- Maintain strong automated testing coverage across unit, integration, and end-to-end
- Track and report key engineering metrics, including reporting to Atlassian Compass
- Facilitate bi-weekly live demos from the cloud environment, including agent workflows alongside features; do not skip demos
- Partner with the dedicated production support organization, which owns frontline operations for the product
- Provide the tooling, automation, and runbooks that make the product easier to support and operate
- Reduce operational toil through automation, including agent-assisted workflows where appropriate
- Maintain an up-to-date list of WIZ Critical and Major findings and remediate them within SLA
- Apply explicit guardrails, blast-radius limits, and audit trails on any production-touching automation you build
- Keep architecture docs, ADRs, runbooks, and agent instructions accurate and current
- Treat documentation as a deliverable that both humans and agents depend on
- Sequence work, keep milestones and risks visible, and keep delivery predictable
Skills
- An experienced tech lead who has led at least one team, ready to step into hands-on engineering management, including hiring and evaluating engineers, while continuing to build daily
- Strong proficiency in Python / Node / React stack for new development
- Experience maintaining and modernizing existing .NET / C# services and Angular frontends
- Demonstrated hands-on experience applying agentic SDLC in real production delivery workflows
- Proven ownership of the full development loop (build, test, release, operate, and iterate)
- Extensive experience with cloud-native applications on Azure (AWS and GCP experience is also acceptable)
- Hands-on experience with containerized workloads and orchestration
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep, Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK
- In-depth knowledge of test automation (unit, integration, e2e)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation, required for full-stack delivery in this role
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and make significant technical contributions
- Proven track record of owning technical direction, architecture decisions, and a long-term technical roadmap
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- A genuine appetite for building with a small team and agents, and for continuous learning
- Familiarity with delivery and security tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Atlassian Suite, SonarQube, Mend, Aqua Trivy, and WIZ
- Experience working in a micro frontends environment is a strong nice to have
- Strong understanding of component life cycles, unit testing, and resolving complex issues in full-stack development
