The Franchise Business Consultant role supports franchisees by providing business consulting, analyzing site performance, and driving sales and marketing initiatives to maximize profitability and growth. The consultant also ensures compliance with franchise agreements and supports operational excellence through coaching and category management expertise.
Responsibilities
- Continuously builds respected and trusting business relationships with Franchisees
- Provides business consulting on convenience retail solutions to the franchisee to maximize growth and profitability
- Actively participates in sales and marketing initiatives, program execution and promotes new product offerings that create value
- Understands and coaches Franchisee on the value and use of performance indicators and financial statements to monitor and improve site performance
- Analyzes and communicates both fuel and c-store competition to make recommendations on local trade area, with a high success rate of influencing Dealers
- Reviews and makes recommendations to improve site performance with Dealers by utilizing analytical tools (fuel, c-store, category, operations) and delivers measurable results
- Assists Franchisees in identifying business gaps
- Ensures Franchisees develop, plan, and execute action plans to address and improve site performance
- Understands pricing model, utilizes systems tools, and consistently makes recommendations to Pricing and Dealers
- Provides coaching and mentoring to FBCs
- Assesses, analyzes, and consults on established ‘Best Practice’ merchandising and operating practices to establish a culture of consistent brand representation through operational excellence
- Ensures Franchisees understand and deliver against their contractual responsibilities and execute the offer and operating standards as prescribed
- Acts as a subject matter expert in merchandising and operations and makes recommendations to category management and support teams
- Provides Dealers with support during rebrands, retrofits, debrands and new site openings (ampm stores or Gas-only) by liaising with the Commercial Project Coordinator and coordinating vendors and support teams using the site opening checklist
- Analyzes and makes recommendations for improvements to Marketing and support teams
- Evaluates and consults on Category Management & General Merchandising practices and execution to provide for a consistent and improved customer experience leading to top and bottom-line growth
- Influences Franchisee to maximize profitability through profit boosters, company promotions, price setting, maximizing and optimum availability and marketing concepts
- Acts as a subject matter expert in category management and general merchandise
- Provides coaching & mentoring to peer group
- Ensures that Franchisees develop and execute a competitive pricing strategy that maximizes profitability and market share
- Ensures that every decision is viewed through the lens of the customer and the Franchise agreement
- Consistently provides Dealers with market insights on local trade area dynamics and competitive landscape to help Dealers develop pricing strategies that optimize profitability and market share
- Ensures and facilitates compliance of the franchise agreement, PMPA, applicable Federal and State laws, defaults (warning letters), termination and litigation, enforcing the uniformity of the franchise, promotional programs, operational standards, royalty and advertising fee collection
- Participates in portfolio management and asset management decisions (communicating with the real estate group, reviewing properties, visiting, and approving new sites, discussing opportunities with current and future dealers)
- Shares branding opportunities with the Franchise Recruiters
- Serves as a resource for less experienced team members, mentors others, and may back up Manager as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree required or five (5) years of Marketing, Retail, Sales, or related experience in lieu
- Four (4) or more years of experience required
