Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Innovative Medical Staffing is a locum tenens firm that specializes in placing elite clinical talent where hospitals need it most. As the Head of Business Development, you will lead the growth strategy by identifying new client accounts, managing sales pipelines, and building relationships with key decision-makers in the healthcare sector.
Responsibilities
- Identify, target, and win new client accounts across hospital systems, ambulatory surgery centers, health networks, and group practices
- Build and manage a full sales pipeline, from first contact through signed service agreement, with clear forecasting at every stage
- Develop and execute a business development strategy that hits aggressive revenue and market-expansion goals
- Negotiate rates, terms, and master service agreements that work for both the client and IMS
- Build durable relationships with the people who make staffing decisions: perioperative directors, department chairs, chief medical officers, VP-level talent and HR leaders, and procurement teams
- Partner closely with recruiting and clinical operations so that what you sell, we can staff, on time and to standard
- Represent IMS at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events as the face of the brand
- Track the market: watch locum tenens demand across specialties, anesthesia coverage gaps, rate movement, and competitor activity, and turn what you see into opportunity
- Report on pipeline health, conversion, and revenue against target on a regular cadence
Skills
- A proven track record in healthcare staffing business development or sales, ideally in locum tenens, with anesthesia experience a strong plus
- A history of meeting and beating revenue targets, with the numbers to prove it
- Sharp relationship-building instincts and the negotiation skills to match
- A working understanding of how hospitals buy: credentialing, procurement, staffing cycles, and the pressures that drive them
- The drive to operate independently, set your own agenda, and hold yourself to it
- Willingness to travel to build relationships in person where it counts
- An existing network of hospital and health system relationships you can activate on day one
- Experience selling locum coverage into anesthesia or perioperative departments specifically
- Fluency with a CRM and a disciplined approach to pipeline hygiene
Benefits
- Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission, so your ceiling is set by your results, not a pay band
- A specialized, respected niche where our reputation opens doors for you
- A team that delivers on what you sell, so you can go back to clients again and again
