DRUM Associates is seeking a Lead Ad Ops Architect to join the NBA and serve as the primary architect and subject matter expert for Google Ad Manager and FreeWheel environments. This role will drive scalable monetization strategies across digital, mobile, and CTV platforms while partnering with various teams to support long-term platform growth and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, structure, and configuration health of Google Ad Manager and FreeWheel environments
- Design and govern inventory hierarchies, ad units, placements, targeting frameworks, and monetization rules across platforms and devices
- Ensure consistent monetization strategy implementation across NBA, WNBA, and Team properties spanning web, mobile, and CTV / OTT platforms
- Serve as the primary FreeWheel and GAM SME for internal teams while establishing best practices, standards, and documentation
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Ad Operations, and Revenue teams to translate monetization requirements into scalable ad server designs
- Support expansion across new platforms, teams, and devices while minimizing operational complexity
- Audit and refactor legacy configurations to reduce complexity and identify long-term solutions for ad delivery and monetization issues
- Define and clarify ownership boundaries between Ad Operations, Product, and Engineering
Skills
- Deep, hands-on experience with Google Ad Manager (GAM) and FreeWheel ad server
- Strong understanding of ad server concepts including inventory design, ad placements and rules, and targeting and decisioning logic
- Experience supporting large, multi-platform digital or CTV ecosystems
- Ability to simplify and manage complex ad-serving configurations over time
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Revenue teams
- Familiarity with video ad serving concepts including VAST and OTT / CTV environments
