The National Science Teaching Association is dedicated to transforming science education nationwide, and they are seeking a Project Manager for the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) program. This role involves coordinating the planning, execution, and operations of the JSHS, ensuring effective delivery through collaboration with various stakeholders and managing program compliance and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate execution of the JSHS program cycle ensuring alignment across regional and national program components
- Coordinate planning and execution of the National JSHS event, including logistics management, stakeholder coordination, and on-site delivery
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, and milestones; proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Ensure program implementation aligns with sponsor expectations, contractual requirements, and organizational goals
- Lead the annual subaward process for regional partners, including RFP development, application coordination, review facilitation, and award execution
- Manage relationships with sub-awardee institutions, ensuring clarity of expectations, consistency of program delivery, and accountability for outcomes
- Oversee scholarship and award distribution processes in alignment with program policies
- Partner with grants and finance teams to support compliance, documentation, and reporting requirements
- Serve as a primary point of contact for regional program operators and key external stakeholders
- Manage ongoing communication with DoW partners in coordination with senior leadership, ensuring transparency and responsiveness
- Facilitate cross-functional coordination across internal teams, partners, and vendors
- Lead meetings, provide program updates, and resolve complex issues impacting program delivery
- Oversee program systems, tools, and data infrastructure to support efficient operations and accurate reporting
- Ensure integrity and accessibility of program data, documentation, and records
- Collaborate with evaluation partners to support data collection, analysis, and continuous program improvement
- Manage digital platforms (e.g., website, application systems) to ensure effective user experience
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance program efficiency, scalability, and participant experience
- Support program planning and innovation initiatives, including pilots and new initiatives
- Analyze program performance data to inform decision-making and recommendations
- Partner with communications staff to support program outreach, visibility, and stakeholder engagement
- Coordinate preparation of sponsor deliverables, including annual plans, progress reports, and program summaries
- Represent the program externally
- Work collaboratively across consortium partners, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated program delivery
- Provide direction and oversight to vendors, consultants, and project support staff, as needed
- Contribute to a high-performing, mission-driven team environment
- Travel required for the National JSHS event, NSTA fall conference, bi-annual consortium meetings, and occasional regional site visits
- Additional travel may be required for support of other programs and stakeholder engagement

- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder programs
- Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing demands, and drive results
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with external partners
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and process improvement
- Proficiency with project management tools, Microsoft Office, and collaboration platforms
- Bachelor's degree required
- 4–6+ years of project or program management experience
- Experience supporting federally funded programs, grants, or competitions preferred
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams or complex programs
- PMP certification or equivalent training is a plus
- Familiarity with STEM education programs or military-affiliated initiatives is desirable
