Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to support an industry leader in financial services for a 6 month contract remote role. The Senior Backend Engineer role will be responsible for working in an agile environment to empower web application in wealth management domain.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, innovative and maintainable software solutions in an agile environment
- Performing application maintenance and ensuring information security controls
- Provide timely status updates, issue resolutions, and step-by-step instructions on usability questions
- Collaborate with Product, Execution, and other support teams to resolve or escalate user inquiries
Skills
- 6+ years of experience developing enterprise solutions across multiple technology platforms, programming languages, and Data platform
- Expertise in batch job development along with backend development in Java/Python, using an API-first approach to build scalable systems
- Navigate and understand existing backend systems and map or migrate them to similar cloud/infrastructure setups
- Expertise in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and system reliability
- Strong experience using Java, Java EE/Jakarta EE, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, and modern web application technologies
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including deployment and architecture best practices
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
