Key Responsibilities Analyze complex commercial insurance applications to assess risk exposure, evaluate potential losses, and determine appropriate coverage. Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and pricing strategies to ensure profitability and competitive positioning. Make informed underwriting decisions on new business, renewals, and endorsements, managing a portfolio of accounts. Collaborate with agents, brokers, and internal sales teams to understand client needs and provide effective risk solutions. Review financial statements, loss control reports, and other relevant data to support underwriting decisions. Monitor portfolio performance and market trends, adjusting underwriting strategies as necessary. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and assist in resolving complex underwriting issues. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies. Build and maintain strong relationships with key distribution partners. Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting tools and processes. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, with a strong emphasis on property and casualty. Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, financial analysis, and pricing methodologies. In-depth knowledge of various commercial insurance products, coverages, and regulatory requirements. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in underwriting software, statistical analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple priorities effectively. Relevant professional designations (e.g., CPCU, CIC) are highly desirable. Proven ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.
