The Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer designs, builds, and scales reliable data platforms while ensuring high availability and security of data systems, collaborating closely with data, engineering, and product teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure on AWS using technologies such as Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS, S3, and Snowflake
- Implement and operate core data systems across ingestion, transformation, storage, and orchestration layers
- Ensure high levels of reliability, performance, availability, and cost efficiency of data platforms and environments
- Apply and promote best practices in data modeling, observability, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD automation
- Support and scale distributed data systems (e.g., PostgreSQL/Aurora, Snowflake, Kafka, caching) across environments
- Partner with application, analytics, and AI teams to enable efficient and self-service data access and usage
- Participate in design reviews, contribute to technical standards, and mentor junior engineers
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvements in data platform operations
- Support operational excellence by participating in on-call rotations and off-hours incident response when required
Skills
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Cloud based Data Infrastructure, Database Engineering, or related roles
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with AWS Data Services (Aurora, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, Glue, Athena etc.)
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL/Aurora and Snowflake or similar modern data platforms
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting or programming languages (Python, Shell, etc.)
- Hands-on experience using Terraform and GitLab to build and operate CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure automation
- Demonstrated experience optimizing database performance and operating high-throughput data systems
- Experience with real-time or streaming data platforms (Kafka, Databricks)
- Exposure to data governance, lineage, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC2)
- Familiarity with analytics workflow using orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt)
- Experience supporting database migrations from Oracle RDS to modern data stores (Aurora PostgreSQL, Snowflake)
- Exposure to OpenSearch, Cassandra, or other distributed data systems
- Familiarity with GCP or Azure in addition to AWS
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Prior experience in healthcare or regulated industries is a plus
