Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Southern California Hospitals is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to translate technological designs into functional, high-performance network infrastructures. The role involves ensuring reliability and efficiency across the enterprise network, managing automation systems, and providing technical mentorship to team members.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, integrate, and optimize core network infrastructure and technologies (routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, SD-WAN). Manage life cycle execution, device updates, and physical/logical transitions. Evaluate target designs to implement robust network throughput, performance adjustments, and technical alignment with regulatory and industry frameworks
- Develop, optimize, and maintain infrastructure automation systems and deployment playbooks (e.g., Ansible scripts). Manage external edge routing profiles, internet policy design structures, autonomous systems, BGP policies, and IPAM registries (ARIN allocation). Supervise and execute systemic Life Cycle Management (LCM) procedures for hardware/software nodes
- Serve as the definitive Tier 3 subject matter expert and technical escalation path for corporate network disruptions or infrastructure operational events. Conduct deep technical troubleshooting, performance isolation, and system remediation during high-priority outages to sustain continuous delivery within a complex 24x7 enterprise landscape
- Author, refine, and enforce engineering specifications, standard operating routines, and architectural state documentation maps. Conduct structural technical reviews, configuration assessments, and network state compliance audits to ensure precise synchronization with core corporate directives and security guidelines
- Deliver structured engineering leadership, architecture alignment reviews, and procedural expertise to technical engineering team members. Mentor junior and mid-level personnel in specialized data-center isolation workflows, algorithmic problem-solving models, and objective logical verification mechanics
Skills
- Expert level understanding and demonstrated production-level delivery, operation, and administration of enterprise network technologies (SDWAN, BGP routing, switching matrix, firewall engines, enterprise wireless, network telemetry visibility, etc.)
- Expert level command over engineering practices and foundational networking protocols (MPLS trunks, optical transit transport, IPv4 subnets, 802.1X authorization, VPN access nodes, micro-segmentation models, QoS queuing, IPAM allocation, etc.)
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience implementing, maintaining, and engineering extensive core network infrastructure solutions across large, geographically distributed complex networks
- At least 5 years of demonstrated engineering capability sustaining and troubleshooting high availability systems and operations within an active 24x7 mission-critical production environment
- Applied technical experience executing deployment plans matching solutions architecture parameters, specifically addressing enterprise-grade security hardening, high-availability clusters, disaster recovery, synthetic monitoring, and infrastructure health telemetry
- Proven history delivering technical components for concurrent, large information system infrastructure initiatives spanning initial implementation definitions through validation stages
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, network administration, information technology, engineering, or a highly related technical field
- Technical configuration and administration experience navigating cloud native network resources and hybrid-cloud enterprise topologies
