Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Nutanix is a leading cloud computing company, and they are seeking a Sr. Staff Consultant for their Kubernetes Platform. The role involves designing and implementing Kubernetes infrastructure solutions, guiding customers through technical assessments, and supporting pre-sales activities.
Responsibilities
- Architect and design scalable, secure, and resilient Kubernetes infrastructure solutions tailored to customer requirements across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
- Guide customers through technical assessments (i.e. Workshop expertise), architectural reviews, and solution design, ensuring seamless integration with their existing infrastructure
- Support pre-sales activities by scoping customer needs, defining technical approaches, and developing level of effort (LOE) estimates for proposed solutions
- Lead deployment and lifecycle management of Kubernetes clusters, including workload placement, storage integration, and networking configurations
- Implement GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to automate provisioning and cluster management using tools like Terraform and Ansible
- Develop documentation, operational runbooks, and reference architectures to support customer enablement and long-term maintainability
- Contribute to practice development by creating and enhancing reusable delivery kits, implementation templates, and internal training content
- Stay current on cloud-native technologies and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, security, and scalability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Professional Services, Practice Development, Product Management, and Engineering—to deliver high-impact solutions and drive innovation
Skills
- 10+ years of experience in Consulting, DevOps, systems administration, and/or infrastructure engineering roles
- 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and running on-prem open-source Kubernetes on a hypervisor, such as AHV or VMware vSphere, within a production environment at medium to large scale
- Extensive hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, including design, deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting in production environments
- Demonstrated experience architecting end-to-end container-based solutions, including high availability, resilience, and security
- Proficiency with hybrid and multi-cloud Kubernetes deployments (e.g., on-premises, AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Solid Nutanix or vSphere/Virtualized infrastructure knowledge as well as NFS and Object Storage
- Solid grasp of networking, firewalls, service meshes, ingress controllers, and container security best practices, incl. DNS, idP (LDAP, OIDC, SAML, etc)
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipeline tools and workflows, especially as they relate to Kubernetes environments (such as GitOps, Argo, Flux, etc.)
- Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, and Python
- Proficiency in both Windows and Linux operating systems
- Experience with Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) or similar enterprise Kubernetes distributions (Red Hat OpenShift, SUSE Rancher, VMWare Tanzu, etc.) is a strong differentiator
- Architectural design expertise with one or more of the following certifications: TOGAF, VCDX, CCIE, or NPX
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and supportable technical solutions
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
