The Strategic Account Manager will manage key customer relationships in the medical industry, focusing on driving strategic account management and identifying growth opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and engagement
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive growth and long-term partnerships
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within existing key accounts
- Maintain and expand business within the assigned key customer portfolio
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Engineering, Program Management, and Marketing, to support customer needs and projects
- Manage sales forecasting, issue resolution, and reporting for key accounts
- Build strong relationships with customer supply chain, commodity teams, and engineering stakeholders
- Create and deliver tailored sales presentations and business reviews for key accounts
- Participate in technology forums, industry events, and customer presentations
- Ensure a strong pipeline of new business opportunities within assigned accounts
- Coordinate and manage technical new product sales quote requests for key customers
- Track and report monthly sales performance and account developments
- Prepare weekly sales reports, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Provide monthly sales updates on key accounts to the Sales Director
- Travel as needed to maintain, nurture, and develop key accounts
- Develop a long-term sales strategy for key accounts to align with company growth objectives
- Support Marketing, PLM, and Costing Engineers in pricing and quoting for key accounts
- Cultivate and manage high‑value customer relationships and partnerships
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract development, and long‑term agreement structures
- Serve as a senior point of escalation for strategic customers
- Work with Product and Marketing to align offerings with customer and market needs
- Partner with Finance on pricing strategies, modeling, and profitability optimization
- Collaborate with Operations and Delivery teams to ensure commercial commitments are met
- Lead and mentor commercial, sales, or business development team members
- Promote a culture of accountability, customer focus, and high performance
- Drive continuous improvement across commercial processes and tools
Skills
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in key account management, Medical technical sales, business development, or applications engineering
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
- Experience in engineering drawings and working with 3D CAD systems (SolidWorks preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Strong technical understanding of stamping, forming, and injection molding processes
- Experience with GD&T and ERP systems
- Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Goldmine)
