- Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner (NP), and/or Physician, evaluates outcomes, consults with other health team members as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Performs head-to-toe assessment, under the supervision of a NP, and/or Physician, on all patients as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
- Adequately assess and reassess pain.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.
- Maintains current knowledge of medication and the correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.

- Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in patient education.
- Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
- Meets current documentation standards and policies.
- Demonstrates knowledge of lab requirements, requisitions.
- Maintains established office policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection prevention and control standards.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with office standards.
- Answers telephone calls in a professional manner; refers patient problems to NP; schedules patient appointments.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies, including vaccines.
- Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Maintains a good working relationship with all co-workers.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Performs preventive maintenance.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- Response is appropriate to the patient in emergency or physically distressful situations.
- Meets dress code standards, appearance is neat and clean.
- Completes annual education requirements.
- Maintains regulatory requirements.
